FAQ
| How do I choose a class for my child? | |
|---|---|
The age recommendations outlined for Kindermusik have been carefully constructed to best group children in an age- and developmentally-appropriate way. You can also consult the guidelines on this page for more information as you try to find the best fit for your child and are always welcome to try different classes until we find the perfect fit. If you have concerns about your child’s success in a particular age range, we are happy to discuss your child’s needs and to work with you to place him in the class best suited for him.

| May I attend a class to see if we like Kindermusik? | |
|---|---|
Yes! We encourage and welcome visitors to attend a FREE preview class. Between semesters, we sometimes hold demonstrations that allow families to get a taste of Kindermusik. During the semester, we also allow visitors; however, please call or e-mail us first, so we can make sure to have materials prepared.

| What does it mean to be on the waiting list? | |
|---|---|
Occasionally someone has to withdraw from class. Being on the waiting list allows you to move directly into spots that become vacant. Additionally, once a waiting list has 4 students on it, we will do our utmost to create another class for those families. We have had very popular class times with wait lists evolve into two separate full classes over the course of a semester. After taking these actions, if we are still not able to accommodate you, we will recommend another program to you and provide you with as much information as we can pertaining to their class schedule and contact information.

| Do you offer any discounts for siblings or twins? | |
|---|---|
We are happy to offer discounts for families enrolling more than one child in our program. You will always receive 20% off tuition for the enrollment of a second child, a discount which is included in the price of Family Time. Additional discounts are given on materials when enrolling twins or siblings who are close enough to be enrolled in the same agegroup. Younger siblings who are repeating a unit an older sibling has already completed may also be able to save on materials. Feel free to contact us for more information.
| |
| How do I make certain that my materials will be available at the first class? | |
|---|---|
Register early! If we do not have your registration form and deposit by at least two weeks before the start date of the first class of the semester, you may not receive materials at the first class.
| |
| Can I join the semester after it has already started? | |
|---|---|
Yes, if space is available. Of course, tuition will be pro-rated for the remaining classes.
| |
| What if we have to miss a class? | |
|---|---|
That’s okay. Although we do not offer refunds for missed classes, we do allow families to make-up the class missed by attending one of the other classes for that age group. If you and your child must miss a class you may “make-up” the absence by attending any of the classes for the same agegroup offered during the semester. However, please notify us ahead of time, so we can be sure to reserve a space for you. We desire for you and our other families to be healthy and well, so please respect the health of your classmates and do not bring sick children to class. | |
| What is your inclement weather policy? | |
|---|---|
Classes will be made up in the event of the instructor’s illness or inclement weather. You will be notified of the cancellation and the scheduled make-up class. Class cancellations are also posted on our Blog. Because of the nature of our year-long schedule, we only have room on the calendar to schedule one additional day per semester for makeups due to weather. If you cannot attend this makeup, you may makeup any missed days due to inclement weather at any open class at any location. | |
| What if I have to bring a sibling? | |
|---|---|
At Kindermusik with Joy, our policy differs from many other studios in this regard. We believe Kindermusik can easily become a family activity. Therefore, if a sibling is enrolled in their own class, you may bring that sibling to another child’s class, as long as you contact us first, and they are not disruptive to a younger sibling’s class. If a child has their own class to look forward to, they can more easily sit with mom and participate with bouncing, rocking or dancing with brother or sister.
Class often becomes a special bonding time between mom or dad and siblings. Infants are welcome in a sibling’s Our Time class at no charge until they are mobile. (Which means they can go get their own rhythm sticks!) You might also consider enrolling in Family Time for the convenience of bringing both kids to one Kindermusik class. Many parents see the Family Time option as a great way to help their kids share music together and to help siblings form special bonds that last a lifetime. Plus, children under 9 months of age are free! Imagine That! (ages 3 -5) and Kindermusik for the Young Child classes (ages 5-7) also allow siblings to be a part of “Sharing Time.” | |
| Can my spouse, grandmother, etc. come watch the class? | |
|---|---|
Absolutely! Spouses and relatives are always welcome to attend (and participate).
| |
| What should we do with our At Home Materials? | |
|---|---|
Play, sing, fill in the hours of long rainy days! Enjoying the home activities, listening to your CD, reading your books, and playing your instruments adds tremendously to the benefits of the class experience. In fact, families frequently tell us that their Kindermusik CDs are family favorites. Part of the Kindermusik magic is making music a part of your everyday life; that is why you receive At Home materials. | |
| What if I can't afford Kindermusik? | |
|---|---|
We are open to making special arrangements to make Kindermusik attainable for your family. In addition, we have a limited number of scholarships each semester. If you would like more information about a scholarship, please e-mail us or call. | |
