Listening in Village

“The Stars are making music…Listen, Listen!”

For those of you who are currently in the Village- Dream Pillow class (our current baby class unit), I must say that Listen, Listen is one of my all-time favorite activities.  (I actually snuck it into the Hello, Weather class for preschoolers this semester as well.)  It’s such a simple, sweet song and an easy one to slip into your day-to-day play with Baby.  It’s easy.  Just gather a basket of sound sources – any items with which you can make a sound really (a partially filled plastic water bottle for shaking the water; wax paper for crinkling; two plastic drinking cups for making “clip-clop” horse trotting sounds; and instruments of course.)  Then simply add them to the song from class.  In fact, you might find that in a tight spot you can dig around in your purse or diaper bag for a sound source you can use when you’re waiting at the doctor’s office, stuck in traffic, or even waiting for your food at a restaurant.  Voila – happy baby!  Happy grownup!

Learn how listening will help your baby grow up to be a better friend, a better student, and a better musician.
