Licorice and Marshmallow Spiders

You may have heard about the elephants that danced on the spider webs in our “Confetti Days” class or “Join the Parade” this week.  Well,  here are some spiders of your own to make and eat at home this week.  If you’d like another fun song to use with these, “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” is always a favorite.

You will need for each child:

  • 4 Pieces of string licorice (black or red)
  • 1 Large marshmallow
  • Icing
  • 2 Tiny red hot candies (or sprinkles)

Use the marshmallow as the spider’s body. Tear four pieces of licorice in half and use the icing to “glue” the pieces to the marshmallow as legs. Use the icing to glue the candies on as eyes.  Be forewarned, you may need extra ingredients to make extra spiders.
