Fabulous Finds from the Library

We’re hoping to make “Fabulous Finds” a regular feature highlighting some of our favorite books related to current class themes.  Here are a few ideas for this week.

For Peekaboo, I Love You! Classes (ages 0-18 months)

Peek-a Who? by Nina Laden

This is one of my all-time favorite board books.  In fact, I always keep a copy either in the diaper bag or my purse in case we’re stuck in line, at the doctor’s office, or in a restaurant and needing quick entertainment.  It has adorable rhymes and cute peekaboo cutouts, which adds an element of surprise for Baby.

Bathtime Peekaboo! by Dawn Sirett

Along the same theme is this delightful series including bathtime, bedtime, and farm.  In addition to a sturdy lift-the-flap book, which I don’t worry about little hands tearing accidentally, each of the animals hiding under the flap have a texture for exploring, and I just love books that with that touch-a-feel element.

Lastly, I would say that lift-the-flap books as a general rule are great, though I prefer to wait until kids are old enough they they don’t try to tear the flaps off, which I must admit my 2-year-old is still doing some.  There are lots of great lift-the-flap choices, but ones featuring Maisy the mouse or Spot in his many adventures tend to be our favorites.  Go exploring and see what you like.
