Dancing Banana Clowns

Our Confetti Days kids pretended to be clowns and the kids in Join the Parade have been seeing all kinds of fun animals and people in the parade this week in class, so here’s a cute clown-themed snack I thought I’d share:

Dancing Banana Clowns
You will need for each child:

  • 1/2 Banana
  • Popsicle stick
  • Whipped cream cheese (Consider a fruit flavored cream cheese such as strawberry.)
  • Plastic knife
  • 3 Raisins
  • 1/2 Red grape
  • Several pieces of oat “O” cereal
  • 4 Thin apple slices• Paper plate

Cut half a banana for each child.  Insert a popsicle stick into the flat end.

Using the cream cheese as glue, the children can affix raisins for eyes and a nose, a grape for the mouth, and cereal for hair. For the arms and legs, use the apple slices. If you want let the children play with their banana clowns, singing “I Am a Clown” as they dance the clowns around. Then enjoy eating the delicious banana pops together.
(Alternate Version: This snack can also be made with vegetables—a carrot, raisins or olives for eyes and nose, celery for the mouth, parsley for the hair, and green beans for arms and legs. You will need to cut a slit in the carrot to insert the popsicle stick.)
